The Benefits of Couples Counseling
What is couples counseling?
Whether it’s your first relationship or your tenth, or whether you’ve been with your partner for five months or fifty years, relationships can be challenging for everyone. Sometimes, we struggle with communicating how we feel or what we’re thinking, or can even struggle to understand those thoughts and feelings ourselves. In other cases, we may have trouble establishing, reestablishing, or maintaining trust. Often times there can be one or several roadblocks that seem impossible to tackle and cause one or both parties of the relationship to feel stuck. No matter the season, situation, or status of the relationship, couples counseling can help both partners navigate the relationship.
What are the benefits of couples counseling?
Designating a time and space each week for both you and your partner to share your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly can help put you both on the same page and have a better understanding of yourselves and of each other. This understanding can help illuminate the path and the direction that your relationship is going in or can go in. In couples counseling, a therapist can act as a guide on this path and through this process by providing unbiased perspectives.
Is couples counseling right for you?
Maybe you’re trying to fix a broken relationship, or make a relationship work in conditions that seem impossible. Or, maybe you feel stuck in a relationship that’s working but isn’t thriving or fulfilling. Maybe your relationship is almost perfect, but there’s that one thing you both keep coming back to and getting stuck on, and it’s keeping your relationship from progressing to the next level or from growing into something greater. Maybe you’re just wanting to deepen your connection or level of intimacy. No relationship is too broken or too healthy – couples counseling is a useful resource for both partners in any relationship.
I’m here to help.
I seek to help partners uncover their own individual attachment styles and understand how these affect their connection with each other. Together, we can find healing, establish boundaries, and begin the process of more open communication and better facilitate mutual trust, intimacy, and respect.
